The Social Walkers
As future social workers, we are called to advocate for programs and services that support individuals during times of crisis. Through our Crisis Intervention course at LSU, we have gained a deeper understanding of how essential accessible community resources are for individuals coping with loss and in crisis.

One such vital resource in our community is the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center (BRCIC). Our class had the opportunity to visit BRCIC and learn firsthand about the meaningful work they do. During our visit, we participated in a mock Survivor of Suicide Support Group, which meets weekly to support individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide. The facilitators shared how this group serves as a safe, compassionate space where survivors can connect, process their grief, and find hope through shared experiences.

BRCIC plays a critical role in supporting our community. To help ensure the continuation of these services, we are raising funds for the 16th Annual Circle of Support Walk on April 18, 2026. All funds raised will help sustain BRCIC’s Survivor of Suicide Loss Support Group, allowing it to remain available at no cost to participants.

We sincerely appreciate your support in strengthening this invaluable community resource.
